Wedding Flower Guide
This guide is intended to help you get the most from our services and your budget, ensuring you have sensational flower bouquets and displays on your wedding day.
The right flower arrangements can transform a venue and in years to come they’ll be appreciated time and again in wedding photographs. It’s unlikely you’ll spend this much on flowers again so it really is worth giving it a bit of thought. Make the flowers and decorations an integral part of your wedding planning and really get the best from your florist.
Our service is friendly, personal and efficient, that’s why over we’re asked to do over 80% of the functions we quote for and the vast majority of our clients come back to us after the wedding to let us know how pleased they were.
- Think of your wedding flowers an important part of the look and feel of your wedding. Ideally we like to meet you at your venue to get a feel for the place, the architecture, the décor and the setting. A stunning arrangement in a gothic church might look completely out of place in a country barn or modern function room.
- Likewise your bouquet should suit you and your personality as well as complimenting your dress and the overall feel of the wedding.
- If you don’t know too much about flowers please don’t worry, you may have a favourite flower and you’ll almost certainly have some thoughts on colours you’d like, its then up to us to really get a feel for the sort of things you like. When we meet you’ll have an opportunity to look through some of our work as well as numerous magazines and books. While you may not know about flowers, people do tend to know what they like (and don’t like) when they see it.
- To get a feel for the cost of wedding flowers, please ask for our price guide. Remember though it is just a guide, no two weddings are the same. Providing our services to a happy couple for a modest wedding is as satisfying as a lavish event.
- Once we’ve met and got a feel for what you’d like, we’ll send you a quote outlining the cost for each of the items we’ve discussed, allowing you to tailor it to your budget accordingly. If you accept our quote we ask for a small deposit. You’ll find that as time goes on you may want to make some changes. You can either keep us informed or we can meet up again a month or so before the big day to finalise things.
- If you’re on a tight budget, you don’t necessarily have to settle for cheaper varieties of flowers. In fact we’d advocate the opposite. A few or even a single sensational bloom with an artfully placed twig in the right location can create an impact that no amount of lesser blooms ever could, and cost a lot less.
- When choosing your table arrangements, you first need to decide whether you would like a tall or a low arrangement, in between heights are best avoided as they get in the way of conversation across the table. The height you choose may well be dictated by the venue, low ceilings tend to look best with a low arrangement, while a tall arrangement can be used to emphasise the grandeur of a high ceiling. We have a wide range of vases for you to use on the day, usually available at no extra cost.
- Don’t forget about foliage. It may sound boring, but honestly its not! There’s such a rich variety of colours, shapes, textures and scents. We source a wide variety of English grown foliage and herbs to use with our wedding flowers. Along with berries, twigs and grasses, foliage really can give a beautiful bouquet the edge.
- If there are particular flowers you would like to include in your bouquet or arrangements do let us know and we’ll do our best to obtain it. Do however bear in mind that some flowers are seasonal. While it is true that most flowers can be obtained year round, some varieties are not only very expensive out of season, but the quality can be poor with smaller, weaker specimens. It’s a shame to opt for those and miss out on the magnificence of blooms at their best.
- We have a wide range of accessories for you to use on the day, usually at no extra charge, including vases, pedestals, candelabras, candles, t lights and t light holders, fairy lights. If you’re after something different or more unusual, please ask, we may well be able to source it for you.
- As it’s probably the biggest day of your life, you’ll be forgiven for not giving any thought to what happens to the flowers afterwards. If you would like your bouquet preserved we can recommend a supplier. You may also want to give your guests the opportunity to take home some of the flower arrangements. Wherever possible we design these so that the arrangements can be removed from the vases and taken home. Where this isn’t possible, be assured that we’re an environmentally friendly business; over 95% of our waste is recycled. So once enjoyed by you and your guests, your flowers will then help to grow new flowers!
